Family, Friends, Volunteers, Authorities Search for Missing NJ Girl
The search for 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale will resume at 7:30 a.m. Monday. Pasquale has been missing from Clayton, N.J. since Saturday.
The family confirms this morning that 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale's body was found in a home recycling bin late last night, just five blocks from her home in Clayton, N.J.
Autumn was last seen leaving her home on W. High Street on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. while riding a white Odyssey BMX bike to a friend's house. The girl's parents called police after they say she never made it to that friend's house.
The prosecutor, Sean Dalton, said there have been no arrests in the case and that the investigation to find a child killer is just beginning.
A massive search effort included hundreds of volunteers, the Clayton Police Department, Child Abduction Response Team, New Jersey State Police, the FBI and officers from 40 other police departments.
Early Tuesday morning, police announced they discovered what they believed to be Autumn's body inside a blue recycling container on the 200 block of E. Clayton Avenue. That is about five blocks from the Pasquale home, which is on West High Street. The discovery was made around 10:30 Monday night.
Autumn's family was notified of the discovery, according to police.
"This is a very sad day for the Pasquale family," said Dalton in a press release. "Our hearts go out to the family and to all the residents of Clayton who stood together in support of this young girl."
Autumn's uncle, Paul Spadafora, confirmed that the body was Autumn's.
He thanked the community for helping the family in their search.
