The city of Burleson in is leaving some keepsakes for the future in a time capsule.
The capsule was buried Friday at the center of the Military Veterans Grove in Centennial Park.
"It was fun to have something that contributes to that history, that helps preserve that history," Mayor Ken Shetter said.
The capsule is wrapped up the city's centennial celebration.
"It's an odd feeling about contemplating your own mortality, but I think it's worthy to recognize history," said Peter Krause, Parks and Recreation director. "I think it's worthy to recognize our city and citizens."
The time capsule contains about 250 items that range from restaurant menus to historical books from the region.
"I got a bunch of magazines, as much of a variety I could, just to get a snapshot of the time that we're living in," said Dalan Walker, senior park planner.
The capsule will be opened 100 years from now, in 2112.
