Police are searching for a wrong-way driver after the driver crashed early Monday morning on the westbound lanes of Interstate 635. The crash sent five people to the hospital and caused the highway to shut down for a few hours.

Police are searching for a wrong-way driver who fled the scene of an early morning crash on the westbound lanes of Interstate 635 in north Dallas Monday.
Officers arrived at the crash near Welch Road at about 4:15 a.m. All westbound lanes of I-635 were shut down a few hours following the crash.
Police say the driver was heading eastbound on the westbound lanes of I-635.
The driver crashed into two SUVs carrying members of the same family who were on their way from Alabama to El Paso, Texas.
Three children were injured and have been transported to Dallas Children's Hospital. Two adult women have been transported to another hospital, authorities tell NBC 5.
The wrong-way driver fled the scene on foot. A K-9 unit was dispatched to search for the driver who fled the scene.
Two ambulances were called to the scene.
Hazmat crews are working to clear roadways.
